Website Design Goals
We feel that ideally the customer should provide the basic purpose and goals of the site. This should include the basic information to be presented, intended audiences, required features, and visual styling. We can certainly help with this process, but it is your website, after all.
With that in mind, we do still have standards and themes in many of our websites:
Compatibility
We believe this to be the single largest problem with websites. If a web page is created, tested, and displayed on the same computer without concern for other users, problems will result. Do all your potential customers use the same computers that you do? Do they all have the same type of internet connection?
To avoid compatibility issues, we feel it is vitally important to follow these guidelines:
- Use standard and complete web page coding
- Avoid excessive graphics when possible
- Use correct page structure for faster loading
- Test websites on a variety of software platforms
Following these guidelines will help ensure that websites are better placed in search engines, display better, are faster, and are easier to maintain.
Clarity
Like a brochure or any other advertisement, you need to hook people's interest before their attention moves elsewhere.Uniformity
Is the design consistent on each page? Does it look like a jumble of different ideas thrown together?Search Engine Optimization
Are you using the right keywords? Correct page structure? Appropriate content? We follow these issues and modify websites as necessary to improve search engine performance.
